1. What is 3D Secure?

3D Secure is the global term used for Visa's "Verified by Visa" and Mastercard's "Securecode". It is a one-time-pin (OTP) sent directy to your phone similar to the online banking OTP. Each transaction will require a new code. This means that should someone steal your card, the card alone cannot be used to steal funds at any 3D secure merchant.

2. What type of encryption is used to protect data?

All our certificates has been upgraded to TLS ver 1.2 as security problems were identified in the TLS ver 1.0 specification.

3. How do you store my credit card details?

Carpe Omnia does not store or see any credit card information. We simply store a randomly generated transaction number for each transaction, which will help us track your transaction should you have a billing enquiry.

4. Who should I contact if I have a transaction query?

Carpe Omnia is your first line of contact should you have a billing query. Our office hours are from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, South African time. We endevour to have your query resolved within one working day. Please contact us immediately via (011) 326-5171 or [email protected] should you detect any suspicious activity on your card.

5. How does your in-house fraud prevention system work?

All payment providers have their own global fraud prevention systems. The problem is that not all sites are the same. A site selling mobile games might have many small transactions per month from one user, while a site selling yearly magazine subscriptions will only have 1 or 2 transactions per year. One global system cannot be used to filter out all fraud, and therefore we use a tailor made fraud system per site.

As systems at Carpe Omnia are configured on a per-site basis, our systems have a far greater success rate in identifying fraudulant transactions. To date we've caught and blocked 96% of fraudulant transactions and have a track record of low chargebacks.

In short, the global anti-fraud systems provided by the payment gateway operate on a marco-level, while our systems operate on a micro-level.

6. I'm not from South Africa, can I still use your services?

As per our Terms and Conditions, unfortunately this service is only available within the borders of South Africa.
